Dream, Believe, Get Uncomfortable, and From There Work Your Ass Off

My first day with Crested Butte Academy, the day I decided ski racing was no longer for me, trying to lose 50 pounds, running my first marathon, defending my thesis, seeing my Grammy for the last time, moving across the country to Crested Butte.

There are 2 key things in common with the 7 items listed above.

 (1) In all of those circumstances part of me was UNCOMFORTABLE. Or in layman’s terms part of me was scared shitless. Why? Because they were all scenarios I had not yet experienced or overcome before; I was, and am, stepping outside of my comfort zone. Opening myself up to personal victories and defeats as well as outside opinions.

We have all had experiences where we feel uncomfortable or unfamiliar with our surroundings. We’ve all suffered harrowing defeat and remarkable victory. The lows make you appreciate and understand the highs that much more! If we want to get better we need to be willing to take that first step into a new zone. If you want it, no matter how uncomfortable or difficult the different decisions you are confronted with, you can will it.

(2) In each of those scenarios I also had a vision of how I would work my way through and continue pushing forward. I BELIEVED in that vision and kept my focus on the goals along the way. That's not to say there aren’t going to be downs with all the ups, after all small (and big) failures are part of the damn process. Through difficulties I BELIEVED in myself but I wouldn’t be where I’m at without the support of others.

We must BELIEVE in ourselves and those around us! A way in which we define our goals and self-belief is by sharing ourselves (strengths & weaknesses) with others and taking interest in theirs, showing our belief in them. Be confident, keep that smile big, and BELIEVE even if no one else does! Whatever you want, share it with the World! Daydream about it, talk to everyone about it, show your excitement and passion. With belief comes power. When the process of accomplishing your goals becomes your focus, you don’t blindly hope for success instead you give yourself the power to achieve it.

I remember when I spoke to my family and Dr. Bell before I decided to hit the road for a ride on the wild West express. I said I wanted to finish my thesis and start my own mental performance consulting business. I knew my decision to move meant it would be the last time I’d ever see my Grammy, but she said it sounded like I had a good plan and I should stick to it. The road ahead is long, grueling, and unbelievably amazing. Step outside of your comfort zone and get uncomfortable while believing in yourself every step of the way. I’m excited to finally offer my services and share my ultimate passion of helping guide people with mental skills training to increase their mental toughness.

I hate it when I hear people say here goes nothing! Here goes something! I’m so excited! Check back in with you in a month! Cheers, Zac
